So you’ve decided to update your headshot. Good for you! A recent, flattering image of yourself is so important in business.

While an experienced headshot photographer is very important, it’s equally as important to prepare for your session. Your photographer may have some tools and tricks up her sleeve, but she still needs a good foundation from which to work upon. So what can you do to make the most of your session?

1. Get plenty of sleep the week of your session.

2. Drink lots of water.

3. Consider working with a stylist to select your outfit(s). Nordstroms, Macys, and similar department store will offer assistance with wardrobe.

4. Lay out your clothing choice(s) the day before. Make sure they are pressed and wrinkle free. Bring a few different choices to your session.

5. Consider adding on professional hair and make-up to your session. A good make-up artist can help you look your best.

6. Communicate with your photographer and ask any questions at the beginning of your session. This includes any insecurities you may have. Your photographer might not notice the one thing that really bothers you about yourself. We are often our worst critics!

7. Finally, try to relax and have fun!
