I’ve been photographing this little guy since he was 7 weeks old. I look forward to seeing him every session and being amazed at how much he has grown! Even though he’s getting older (and busier), I can still see that little baby face from when he was 7 weeks old.

Here are a few of my favorites from our session. It was so hard to choose because we had so much fun—from riding a tricycle to playing with a goldfish. He even tried to take some of his own pictures with my vintage camera! He kept me on my toes for sure! Thanks to his family for trusting me to document his milestones — it’s truly an honor.

“Having a sister is like having a best friend you can’t get rid of. You know whatever you do, she’ll still be there.” ~Amy Li

Growing up with my older sister was fun. I always wanted to be just like her. Sure, we fought sometimes but we have always remained close. Now that we don’t live in the same town anymore, we don’t see each other as much as we’d like to. I sure wish I had more photos of she and I when we were younger.

When these sisters walked into my studio, I was delighted! They kind of reminded me of my sister and I at that age. I watched how the the younger one looked up to her big sister. They were so sweet and got along so well (which can be so rare!) You could tell they really loved each other. Here are just a few of my favorites (there were so many to choose from!):

I really applaud their parents for taking the time to make these precious memories for their children. Being able to preserve and hand down beautiful photographs of our loved ones is so important…it’s our heritage. Now, I think I will go and give my sister a call.

Having a professional business headshot is essential these days. Whether you hold an executive or corporate title or whether you’re a realtor, florist, or web designer. It is even wise for college students to get one while job hunting. Having a business portrait shows that you are professional and career-oriented. Social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, and Linkedin also offer a place to promote yourself and your business.

You might wonder how to prepare for your session. Here are some tips to help you get ready.

1. Don’t try to take your own photo or get a friend to take one for you. Image is everything these days and a professional looking portrait taken by a professional photographer will make a great visual impact.

2. Think about what type of look you want for your headshot. Do you want a traditional look? A moody, edgy look? Or maybe you’re unsure. Discuss this with your photographer before the session so you get the look you want.

3. Choose a few outfits to wear for your shoot. Stay away from clothing that is too “busy.” Choose flattering colors and avoid stripes and prints. Make sure all shirts you choose have a nice, clean looking neckline. Darker colors will minimize and brighter colors will draw attention.

4. Consider getting your hair and/or make-up professionally done. A good make-up artist will know how to make you look your best and help tone down wrinkles and enhance your eyes.

5. Get plenty of sleep the night before. Looking well rested is very important.

6. Don’t wear big earrings or flashy jewelry. The focus should be on you and nothing should distract from that.

7. Drink plenty of water to keep your skin looking its best. Staying hydrated can make you look younger, fresher and overall more attractive.

8. Iron or steam your clothes. You need to look your best, and a wrinkled shirt will make you look unprofessional.

9. If desired, bring your favorite music or a supportive friend to the session. Having something or someone familiar will help you feel at ease.

10. And finally, relax! The more relaxed you are, the better and more natural looking your photo will be.
